MissionZeroV award for Schloss Hofen: A strong signal for climate protection and energy efficiency

Schloss Hofen, one of the leading continuing education venues in the Lake Constance region with over 24,000 participants each year, is sending a clear message when it comes to sustainability. This traditional educational institution brings together university programmes, academic formats, and a seminar and business hotel under one roof. The historic building underwent extensive renovation between 2015 and 2016 and was upgraded to the latest energy-efficiency standards.

In 2024, total energy consumption was 287.3 MWh, with 100% of final energy consumption already covered by renewable sources. All electricity demand is met with green electricity, and heat supply is provided exclusively by heat pumps and biogas – fossil heating systems are no longer used.

CO₂ emissions from operations are fully offset as part of MissionZeroV. Emissions from business travel also remain low, totalling just 5.3 tonnes of CO₂ in 2024.

For the coming years, Schloss Hofen is planning further measures, including reducing business travel by petrol- or diesel-powered vehicles. In addition, both employees and guests are to be increasingly encouraged to travel to and from the venue by public transport or bicycle.
