On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, we had the pleasure of welcoming a special guest to the Bodensee Weiterbildungszentrum Schloss Hofen: Univ.-Prof. Dr. med. Reinhard Haller – one of Austria’s most renowned psychiatrists, psychotherapists, and forensic experts, and closely connected with Schloss Hofen for many years.
As a key contributor to several programs at Schloss Hofen and a lecturer for more than three decades, he has left a lasting impact on the institution – and with this lecture, he returned to a place that has been of great significance for many developments in the psychotherapeutic field.
For over 30 years, Reinhard Haller served as Chief Physician at Maria Ebene Hospital and continues to be in demand as a speaker, author, and expert well beyond that time. His experience, his insight into people, and his calm clarity were clearly evident throughout the evening.
Under the title “Longing for Understanding – The Soul in Changing Times,” Dr. Haller guided the audience through the breadth of the human psyche. He spoke about societal developments, the rise of narcissistic structures, and how we can remain psychologically stable when external orientation becomes uncertain.
One thought that resonated: Serenity does not mean living a life without unrest – but rather remaining inwardly grounded amid movement. A capacity that grows when we perceive ourselves, accept ourselves, and approach life with openness.
In closing, Haller summarized his perspective in a message as simple as it is powerful: that times are rarely “normal” – and precisely for this reason, what matters most is finding a healthy balance. Not in constant self-optimization and not in losing ourselves, but in a balance that sustains us. An attitude that allows us to grow without overwhelming ourselves – and to transform without losing ourselves.
We thank Univ.-Prof. Reinhard Haller for this valuable, quietly resonant, and inspiring evening. Our thanks also go to all attendees who, with their interest, openness, and attention, brought this space to life.
